So the film is now set to be released nearly three years from its original release date and thirty six years after the release of the original. Apparently, again taking the spot of Mission: Impossible 7. The Delta variant rolled around and 1 st September 2021 saw Paramount delaying the film for a fifth time to 27 th May 2022. To be honest, though, nearly everything was being postponed. The world was also waiting for the release of Mission: Impossible 7 and it seemed that it would be a toss up whether M:I 7 or Top Gun: Maverick would be the first to hit the screens. On 9 th April 2021 Paramount delayed the film once again to 19 th November 2021 making this the fourth release date change. In September 2020, the film was delayed to 2 nd July 2021.
